A Bonus Date Through London

Lastly, we had a nice walk through Regents Park for old times sake. We love it here and could absolutely call this home! It is a peaceful place perfect for running and relaxing. When you come to London, make sure a lazy day in Regents Park is on your agenda.

We returned to Strada where we enjoyed another round of Joby Harte's favorite dessert.

After a miscommunication of flight delays which caused us to miss our flight with American Airlines, we were afforded another day in London. Upon securing a room for the night, we stopped by the Garrick Arms which is where we went on our first date after dinner back in 2004. We decided to turn the bonus day into a date and had a great day walking through London as the morning storms had passed on.

Yummy for your tummy! Should you decide to use the Hotel Martinez pier, realize that their meals are large and you can easily split one entree between two people. We did not realize this and had many left overs.

Today we decided to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Cannes by laying out in the sun and doing absolutely nothing! After walking along the Promenade de la Croisette from Hotel Splendid, we decided to camp out at Hotel Martinez on their tanning pier overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

There are many great beaches in Cannes but we found this to be the best option because of convenience and amenities offered. From a convenience perspective, it should be noted that the majority of beaches in the French Riviera are rocky. Therefore the Hotel Martinez pier solves this problem. Also, they provide waiters ready to deliver full meals on a whim. As you plan your trip expenses, realize that many beaches charge a fee for access. The Hotel Martinez pier is 30 Euros per person.

London to Nice, France on EasyJet

Officially Hitched in The United Kingdom!

We each had a best man on this one. Joby Harte and Jamie Walker, very dear friends from London, were in great form for the ceremony!

Here we are signing the official wedding certificate with the Registrar from Westminster.

Here we are for our pre-wedding photos at Buckingham Palace. There will be many more photos to come, but with our very limited internet access, we wanted to get these few up for all to see.

Alan, our "Black Cab" driver took us from the Sherlock Holmes Hotel for a sentimental ride through Regents Park, home of Regents College, where we both studied abroad. We then pulled into the main gate at Regents College to get photos in front of the building. Study abroad is what lit the fire of travel within us both and we are very thankful for the experiences we had while at Regents. Our first date was in London in July of 2004 and having a wedding in London, plus visiting Regents on the day of the wedding really put the cherry on top of our marriage.

Strolling through London the Night Before the Wedding

The Sherlock Holmes Hotel - London

We LOVE this hotel. Christina and I prefer smaller "boutique" hotels, as well as bed and breakfast locations over larger chains. For one of the world's largest cities like London, The Sherlock Holmes fits the bill perfectly. The rooms are smaller than you might get in a a smaller city, but this should be expected whenever you travel to places like New York, London, and other major cities around the world. While rooms may not be "enormous," they are extremely comfortable and enjoyable. Watch this video to get a tour of one of the Sherlock Holmes Hotel's Executive Suites.

Dallas to London Flight #50

Currently they are "rebooting" the plane. We have been sitting here for an hour (scheduled departure was 5:30 CST) Therefore, we have plenty of time to get online while waiting for the plane's radio to get repaired. This will make the time on this leg of our trip at least 10 hours instead of 9.

The following video is guaranteed to give you air sickness from your desktop. Sorry it is so shaky! Touchdown in TEXAS!

Click photos to enlarge...Ash took this picture at 35,000 feet as we were crossing the country on the way to Dallas. Looks like one of those Moon shots - okay not quite, but still cool. He has a video of the landing but it was too large to load. We will reduce it and load later.
